Neurodivergent Assessment and Workplace Support

Our highly regarded SASC registered assessors can support organisations and their team with Specific Learning Differences including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attentional Difficulties, and other forms of Neurodiversity. The aim here is to provide an inclusive approach.

Neurodivergent Services

Our experienced associates specialise in empowering patients with the aim to optimise well-being and performance. They are SASC registered assessors for Specific Learning Differences, including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attentional Difficulties and other forms of Neurodiversity.

Many people experience aspects of neurodiversity but are unaware of it. For example, a recent study found that in the UK around 85% of adults in the workforce would meet the criteria for ADHD, yet they do not realise. The incidence is similar for dyslexics.

Our team has extensive experience in working with people at all career levels, helping enable them to recognise and harness their talents, whilst developing approaches and strategies to overcome any areas of difficulty that they experience.

What are Specific Learning Differences/SPLD?

Some people experience differences in how they learn and work, which can make involvement in things such as academic study and jobs a little different for them than for other people.

In the past, these differences have been known as ‘dyslexia’, ‘dyspraxia’ or even ‘attentional difficulties’, but today they are all referred to as ‘Specific Learning Difficulties’ or SpLD.

Having SpLD can make some things, like written work, time management, or even getting on with others more difficult for you, although they can also be linked to some strengths. If you are aware of your SpLD it can help you to understand your past experiences better, as well as aid in finding strategies to manage any difficulties that you have arising from SpLD, and identify your strengths.

Neurodiversity Assessments

Screening Assessment

Cloud 9 for Life Group goes above and beyond by offering assessments for Specific Learning Differences (SpLD), which encompass conditions like Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attentional Difficulties, and other forms of Neurodiversity. Our services also extend to screening for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The assessment process includes a thorough examination that typically spans between 2.5 to 3 hours and adheres to the rigorous guidelines established by the SpLD Standards and Assessment Committee (SASC), available at www.sasc.org. These assessments are conducted by accredited Psychologists or Specialist Teacher Assessors who are registered with the British Psychological Society or other relevant professional bodies.

Screening assessments can be used to:

• Enable clients to start to understand their own strengths and potential areas of difficulty, and to become aware as to how they might develop strategies to support areas of difficulty and make choices based on their strengths.

To confirm a basis for referral for full diagnostic assessment. This would be needed where a diagnostic decision is required to support a formal identification on SpLD (for example, an application for Disabled Student Allowance or funding for a Workplace adjustments).

Please note that it is possible to go straight to full assessment without a screening.

Full Assessment

We offer an assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), with screening for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other types of neurodiversity. Included is a full written report and debriefing appointment for the individual, including recommendations.

Our services encompass a comprehensive assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) alongside screening for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This offering includes the provision of a detailed written report and a subsequent debriefing appointment for the individual, featuring expert recommendations.

Assessments take between 2.5 to 3 hours and are conducted in compliance with the guidelines set by the SpLD Standards and Assessment Committee www.sasc.org by an accredited Psychologist/Specialist Teacher Assessor, registered with the British Psychological Society and/or other relevant professional body.

SASC-compliant neurodiversity assessments can be used to:

• Enable clients to understand their own strengths and areas of difficulty, empowering them to develop strategies to support areas of difficulty and make choices based on their strengths.

• Inform adjustments in the workplace to enable clients more equal access to work, including applications made under the government’s ‘Assess to Work’ scheme.

• Support applications for educational adjustments, including Disabled Student Allowance (which funds the provision of assistive technologies), one-to-one tutors and mentors, and other adjustments for students in higher education.

Workplace Assessments

These assessments are conducted in the individual’s workplace at the request of the individual, with the full knowledge and involvement of the employer. The aim is to identify how SpLD/Neurodiversity may be impacting the individual at work and what adjustments can be put in place to enable them to work at their full potential.

Workplace assessments are conducted by an assessor accredited by the British Dyslexia Association, to assess for reasonable adjustments in relation to SpLD, under the government accreditation scheme.

This is a two-hour visit to meet with the individual and their employer/manager, concluding with a written report containing recommendations for adjustment and a debrief interview with the individual.

Workplace Assessments can be used to:

• Enable clients to understand their own strengths and areas of difficulty, empowering them to develop strategies to support areas of difficulty and make choices based on their strengths.
• Provide recommendations for adjustments that can be made in the workplace.

• Provide a basis for funding of workplace adjustments under the government’s ‘Assess to Work’ scheme.
